Ammunition Co. Targets DOD In Bullet Patent Suit

Law360, New York (February 9, 2011, 5:00 PM EST) -- Liberty Ammunition LLC has accused the U.S. Department of Defense of breaching nondisclosure agreements and infringing its patent for a high-performance lead-free bullet.

The Clearwater, Fla.-based company launched its suit Tuesday in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, claiming the DOD made, acquired, used and exported bullets covered by U.S. Patent Number 7,748,325.

Liberty Ammunition said in its complaint that it has notified the DOD of its alleged infringement of the '325 patent, called "Firearms Projectile."
