Apple, EMI Settle Royalties Spat

Law360, New York (April 12, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A licensing dispute between the commercial arm of the Beatles and record label EMI Group has been settled, ending a $60 million litigation battle.

“We settled on mutually acceptable terms last month,” said EMI spokeswoman Jeanne Meyer on Thursday. She said that was all she could say about the dispute or the resolution.

Apple Corps. began its legal battle against EMI Group in 2005, saying it was owed about $60 million in unpaid royalties from Beatles’ recordings EMI had produced on Apple’s label.
