Ex-NYU Student Sent To Jail For Hedge Fund Scam

Law360, New York (April 12, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A former New York University student who posed as a Turkish heir and perpetrated a $7 million investment scam was sentenced on Wednesday to three and a half years in federal prison.

Hakan Yalincak, who is now 23, has already served 20 months but needs more time to find his “moral compass,” which is “either not present or not functioning,” said U.S. District Judge Janet Arterton.
