Mexican Cos. Dodging US Steel Duties, Suit Claims

Law360, New York (February 14, 2011, 4:07 PM EST) -- ArcelorMittal USA LLC and other American steel producers have accused Mexican companies Deacero SA de CV and Ternium Mexico SA de CV of dodging anti-dumping duties on steel wire rods by manufacturing the product with a smaller diameter.

ArcelorMittal, Gerdau Ameristeel US Inc. and Rocky Mountain Steel, a division of Evraz Inc. NA, filed their complaint Friday with the Import Administration at the U.S. Department of Commerce. They allege the two Mexican companies are trying to escape anti-dumping duties of about 18 percent.
