Canada Will Levy $59M More In Lumber Export Charges

Law360, New York (February 11, 2011, 7:03 PM EST) -- Canada agreed Friday to levy $59.4 million in additional charges on softwood lumber exported from Ontario and Quebec to the U.S., complying with an international tribunal's ruling that said Canada breached a trade pact between the countries.

Following the London Court of International Arbitration's Jan. 21 ruling, Canada decided to implement additional export charges of 0.1 percent and 2.6 percent for Ontario and Quebec, respectively, to bring the country into compliance with the Softwood Lumber Agreement.
