EPA Fines Calif. Biomass Plants Over Air Pollution

Law360, New York (February 15, 2011, 3:27 PM EST) -- Two biomass power plants in California's San Joaquin Valley have agreed to pay civil penalties totaling $835,000 to resolve alleged Clean Air Act and local district violations, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said Tuesday.

Ampersand Chowchilla Biomass LLC and Merced Power LLC agreed to hand over $328,000 and $492,000, respectively, to the EPA and the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, which will equally split the fines.
