States Challenge Nuclear Waste Storage In DC Circ.

Law360, New York (February 15, 2011, 4:17 PM EST) -- Three Northeastern states filed a lawsuit Tuesday in the D.C. Circuit challenging federal regulations that would double the amount of time nuclear power facilities would be allowed to store radioactive waste to 60 years after their closure.

Attorneys general from New York, Vermont and Connecticut lodged their complaint in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, alleging the Nuclear Regulatory Commission never completed a federally required, site-specific review of the hazards such storage would pose.
