Con Man Gets 13 Years, $8M In Fraud Scheme

Law360, New York (February 16, 2011, 7:52 PM EST) -- A federal judge has sentenced British fraudster Robert Tringham to 13 years in prison and ordered him to pay $8 million in restitution for allegedly bilking investors out of millions after promising the money would be used only to back bond purchases.

In a hearing Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Judge S. James Otero also ordered Tringham to pay $500,000 in back taxes for executing the fraud scheme.
