Texas Bill Aims To Reform, Clarify Insurer Rules

Law360, New York (February 17, 2011, 8:54 PM EST) -- A Texas lawmaker has introduced legislation that would require the state's Department of Insurance to draft guidelines specifying why certain insurers must obtain approval before changing their rates and outlining ways for insurers to get out of the prior approval process.

S.B. No. 644, introduced on Monday by Texas Sen. Glenn Hegar, R-Katy, would implement a state commission's recommendations for the Texas Department of Insurance.
