Ex-Judge Found Guilty Over $2.8M Kickback Scheme

Law360, New York (February 18, 2011, 7:22 PM EST) -- A federal jury on Friday found former judge Mark Ciavarella Jr. guilty of racketeering in a case alleging he and another ex-judge engaged in a $2.8 million bribery, kickback and extortion scheme.

The jury in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania found that the former Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas judge was guilty of 12 of the 39 counts leveled against him in a Sept. 29 superseding indictment.
