Fort Worth Seeks To Toss Ex-Cops' OT Suit

Law360, New York (February 23, 2011, 7:58 PM EST) -- Attorneys for Fort Worth, Texas, told a federal judge Tuesday that the Fair Labor Standards Act should bar ex-police officers from suing for overtime pay for security work at a local convention hall.

The plaintiffs, who coordinated security details at the Fort Worth Convention Center, cannot earn overtime for voluntary work performed for a third-party employer, according to a summary judgment motion lodged in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
