China Nixes US Bid For WTO Duties, Credit Panels

Law360, New York (February 24, 2011, 5:34 PM EST) -- China on Thursday thwarted U.S. efforts to set up World Trade Organization panels to review Chinese anti-dumping duties on electrical steel products and its limits on which companies can process credit card payments in the country.

The U.S. had asked the WTO's dispute settlement body to establish panels to weigh in on the two trade disputes at Thursday's meeting, but China refused both requests, U.S. Trade Representative spokeswoman Nefeterius Akeli McPherson said.
