US Sanctions Libya As Violence Floods Nation

Law360, New York (February 25, 2011, 5:58 PM EST) -- The White House said Friday it was moving forward with sanctions against Libya in an effort to pressure the leadership of the embattled country to end deadly violence against protestors.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said the Obama administration was in the process of finalizing unilateral sanctions against Libya, and was holding discussions with international leaders and the United Nations to stop the African government’s civilian killings and other human rights violations.
