Lloyd's Breach Claim KO'd In Hurricane Coverage Suit

Law360, New York (February 28, 2011, 6:44 PM EST) -- A federal judge Monday rejected counterclaims from Lloyd's of London in a putative class action alleging its property insurance policies conceal separate deductibles for hurricane damage in violation of Florida law.

Judge Cecilia Altonaga of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida swept aside most of the counterclaims, including the defendants’ bids for breach of contract, unjust enrichment and estoppel, but the court did not satisfy the plaintiffs’ every wish.
