Massey Official Lied To Inspectors Over Blast: Feds

Law360 (February 28, 2011, 6:33 PM EST) -- A security official at Massey Energy Co. tried to dispose of thousands of documents and lied to federal agents who were investigating an explosion that killed 29 coal miners in West Virginia, a criminal indictment unsealed Monday claims.

Hughie Elbert Stover — the chief of security at Upper Big Branch mine, where the explosion took place, and at least two other Massey operations — was arrested and charged Monday with two felonies in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.
