Texas AG Probes Hospital Chain Over Medicaid Fraud

Law360, New York (February 28, 2011, 8:17 PM EST) -- Community Health Systems Inc. revealed Friday that the Texas attorney general's Medicaid fraud division has demanded details on the Tennessee-based hospital chain's billing and emergency department procedures.

The Texas attorney general's office in November served the company with civil investigative demands — akin to subpoenas — for all 18 CHS-affiliated hospitals in the state, according to the annual report that CHS filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday.
