Senate Adopts Revisions To Patent Reform Bill

Law360, New York (March 1, 2011, 6:41 PM EST) -- The U.S. Senate on Tuesday adopted a streamlined version of comprehensive patent reform legislation, modifying litigation-related provisions and adding new measures on fees and business method patents as the bill heads for a final vote.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., debuted the managers' amendment to S. 23, the newly retitled America Invents Act, on the Senate floor, saying it incorporated bipartisan suggestions from both Senate and U.S. House of Representatives lawmakers that would advance the legislation “very close to a consensus bill.”
