Hearing Set For Contentious Western-Giant Deal

Law360 (April 18, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission will make arguments in a hearing on May 7 over why it believes the proposed $1.4 billion merger between two oil refineries could significantly harm New Mexico’s light petroleum supply.

Judge James Browning of the U.S. District Court of New Mexico on Tuesday set the date for the hearing, after which he will decide whether to issue a preliminary injunction against the deal between Western Refining Inc. and Giant Industries Inc.
