UPS To Pay $1.3M Fine To NY Over Unsafe Trucks

Law360, New York (March 2, 2011, 2:31 PM EST) -- UPS Inc. will pay a $1.3 million fine to settle allegations that its employees drove dozens of trucks in serious disrepair across New York state for years, officials announced Tuesday.

The mammoth shipping company also agreed to allow an independent contractor to inspect its trucks for compliance with New York state and federal codes for five years, the New York Attorney General's Office said in a statement.
