Manufacturers Sue Travelers Over Pollution Coverage

Law360, New York (March 2, 2011, 6:27 PM EST) -- Amsted Industries Inc. and one of its divisions, Burgess-Norton Manufacturing Co. Inc., hit the Travelers Indemnity Co. with a lawsuit Wednesday seeking coverage for environmental contamination claims at a Muskegon, Mich., site.

In a complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the companies contend Travelers has improperly failed to defend or indemnify them over an enforcement action at the site brought by Michigan environmental regulators.

Amsted and Burgess-Norton are seeking a declaratory judgment that Travelers owes them coverage as well...
