Bill Aims To Protect NYers From Mold Dangers

Law360, New York (March 3, 2011, 3:42 PM EST) -- A bill introduced Wednesday in the New York State Assembly is seeking to amend public health and insurance laws to establish protections against toxic mold.

Bill Number A05845, known as the New York Toxic Mold Safety and Protection Act of 2011, was referred to the Assembly's Committee on Health upon its introduction.

If the act is passed, it will require the state superintendent of insurance to create a statewide toxic mold insurance program to provide insurance against losses resulting from mold hazards to property.
