Are Agencies Heeding Obama's Executive Order?

Law360, New York (March 8, 2011, 12:55 PM EST) -- On Jan. 18, President Barack Obama signed Executive Order 13563, requiring that both existing and prospective federal regulations "protect public health, welfare, safety and our environment while promoting economic growth, innovation, competiveness and job creation." The executive order requires a review of existing significant regulations, to determine whether those regulations "may be outmoded, ineffective, insufficient or excessively burdensome."

Ironically, many initiatives by agencies with jurisdiction over labor/employment issues seem inconsistent with Obama's stated intention of protecting the nation's safety, health and environment while promoting economic growth....
