DOJ Launches BP Oil Spill Task Force

Law360, New York (March 7, 2011, 8:33 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Justice has formed a task force to oversee its multiple criminal investigations into the massive oil spill caused by the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon rig in April.

The Deepwater Horizon Task Force will oversee all facets of the probe into the disaster, consolidating the efforts of the DOJ's Criminal Division, Environment and Natural Resources Division, and the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Louisiana, where litigation concerning the incident is pending, the DOJ confirmed Monday.
