Massey Hit With 3 Wrongful Death Suits Over Mine Blast

Law360, New York (March 8, 2011, 10:23 PM EST) -- The families of two miners killed in a mine blast and another miner who narrowly escaped with his life reportedly sued Massey Energy Co. for failing to maintain safety standards at West Virginia's Upper Big Branch Mine.

The suits were filed Monday in the Boone County Circuit Court, 25th Judicial Circuit of West Virginia, by the families of Joe Marcum and Adam Morgan, both killed in the April 2010 explosion that killed 29 miners, and by Stanley Stewart, who survived the blast, according to the Charleston...
