Muni Contractors Get Light Sentences In Bribery Case

Law360, New York (March 9, 2011, 6:11 PM EST) -- A federal judge imposed relatively light sentences Friday on two owners of a municipal services company who traded cash and a luxury auto to the mayor and controller of a small Michigan city in exchange for a $3.1 million public works contract.

Judge Avern Cohn of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan sentenced Sheldon Divers to prison for a total of 24 months, allowing him credit for eight months already served. His partner, Stacey Tarockoff, received a two-month sentence.
