Toyota Escapes Sanctions, Retrial In Rollover Suit

Law360, New York (March 11, 2011, 9:02 PM EST) -- A Texas federal judge Thursday decided not to sanction Toyota Motor Corp. over an ex-employee's claims that it concealed documents, denying a widow's bid to reopen her suit over the company's allegedly deadly auto defects.

Judge T. John Ward of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas denied plaintiff Raida Hindi's bid to sanction Toyota, reopen discovery and retry her case, in which a jury found for Toyota in January 2006.
