9th Circ. Grants New Bribery Trial For Ex-Alaska Pol

Law360, New York (March 11, 2011, 5:21 PM EST) -- The Ninth Circuit on Friday ordered a new trial for former Alaska state Rep. Victor Kohring, bashing prosecutors for withholding information in their effort to convict Kohring of taking bribes from oil services company Veco Corp.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit found that the prosecutorial misconduct that tainted convictions against former Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, also affected Kohring’s corruption trial, but not so profoundly as to require the outright dismissal of the case.
