BP Joins Enviro Suit Over Oil Spill Response Plan

Law360, New York (March 14, 2011, 6:46 PM EDT) -- A Louisiana federal judge on Monday approved BP Exploration & Production Inc.'s bid to join a case brought by environmental groups against the federal government that challenges the legality of BP's 2009 oil spill response plan and any drilling permits based on that plan.

Judge Kurt Engelhardt of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana granted BP's motion to intervene, accepting BP's arguments that it should be allowed to join the suit to protect its economic interests.
