Chevron Wins Contract Battle Over Lead In Calif.

Law360, New York (March 15, 2011, 2:28 PM EDT) -- A California appeals court ruled Monday in favor of Chevron USA Inc. and upheld the dismissal of a contract suit over lead contamination on land that was sold under a $175 million agreement in 1995.

The Court of Appeal of the State of California for the Fourth Appellate District handed down the 77-page ruling, dealing a blow to Makallon Atlanta Huntington Beach LLC, which was eventually transferred the 31-acre parcel in Huntington Beach, Calif., that was at issue in the suit.
