Bausch & Lomb Sues Ocular Sciences Over Contact-Lens Patent

Law360 (October 6, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Eye-care pharmaceutical company Bausch & Lomb Inc. has sued Ocular Sciences Inc. in federal court in New York, claiming that the rival's toric contact lenses infringe on a patent held by B&L.

In the lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York, B&L asks the court to order Ocular Sciences to discontinue the manufacture and sale of the toric lens in the United States until the B&L patent expires in 2018.

According to the complaint, B&L is seeking unspecified monetary damages for infringing the patented technology.
