Class Counsel's Fees Halved In Fla. Insurance Suit

Law360 (March 17, 2011, 2:58 PM EDT) -- A Florida judge awarded $1.6 million in fees Thursday to plaintiffs' counsel in a class action over Washington National Insurance Corp.'s denial of home health care benefits, reducing a $4 million request from the attorneys because of billing request flaws.

At the same time, Judge James Cohn of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida denied the insurer's request to stay the award of fees while it appeals a September order of summary judgment against it in the case.
