ComEd Off The Hook In Air Pollution Suit

Law360, New York (March 17, 2011, 6:47 PM EDT) -- Commonwealth Edison Co. was dismissed on Wednesday from a suit that Illinois and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency launched against the electric utility and Edison Mission Energy Inc. alleging Clean Air Act violations at six coal-fired power plants outside Chicago.

Judge John W. Darrah of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois dismissed ComEd from the suit because the EPA and the state of Illinois took legal action well after the five-year statute of limitations period had expired.
