Roundup Ready Sugar Beet Suit Sent To DC

Law360 (March 18, 2011, 3:28 PM EDT) -- A federal judge on Thursday transferred the Center for Food Safety's lawsuit targeting the government's partial deregulation of genetically modified sugar beets to another federal court where a different action over the controversial regulatory decision is pending.

The order handed down by Judge Jeffrey S. White of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California was a win for the government in a series of legal battles over the sugar beet variety engineered to be resistant to the Monsanto Inc. herbicide Roundup.
