Germany Nixes Online Video Deal Over Antitrust Fears

Law360, New York (March 18, 2011, 2:06 PM EDT) -- Germany's antitrust watchdog said Friday it halted a proposed online video joint venture between ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG and Bertelsmann AG's RTL Group after the companies failed to address competition concerns the regulator raised in February.

Germany's Cartel Office said that on Thursday it prohibited the private broadcasters' plan to form a joint venture for the creation and operation of an online video platform.

The broadcasters have a month to appeal the decision, according to the regulator.
