Ex-NY Comptroller Seeks Further Delay of Sentencing

Law360, New York (March 18, 2011, 6:47 PM EDT) -- Former New York State Comptroller Alan Hevesi on Wednesday asked for another postponement of his upcoming corruption sentencing, saying the judge overseeing the case must first decide whether he will step down because of ties to the estranged father of Hevesi’s lawyer.

Hevesi’s attorney Brad Simon, who recently learned that Judge Lewis B. Stone is the executor of his parents’ wills and a trustee of two lifetime trusts set up by his father, objected to the judge’s plan to rule on the recusal motion and sentence...
