Ex-Goldman Programmer Gets 8 Years For Code Heist

Law360, New York (March 18, 2011, 6:01 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge sentenced a former Goldman Sachs Group Inc. programmer on Friday to more than eight years in prison for stealing high-frequency trading system code, saying the defendant did not show enough remorse for his actions.

Judge Denise L. Cote sentenced Sergey Aleynikov in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, imposing more than double the prison term received in February by former Societe Generale SA trader Samarth Agrawal, who was accused of similar crimes.
