FCC Blesses $22B CenturyLink-Qwest Deal

Law360, New York (March 18, 2011, 7:27 PM EDT) -- The Federal Communications Commission on Friday approved CenturyLink Inc.'s $22 billion purchase of Qwest Communications International Inc., imposing some protections against the risk of harm to competition.

Based on the companies’ commitment to certain conditions, the FCC found that the potential public interest benefits of the deal are likely to outweigh any potential harms, the agency said.
