Nord LB To Appeal $4M Verdict In Gender Bias Case

Law360, New York (April 24, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Norddeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale is preparing an appeal after a jury awarded almost $4 million to a plaintiff who claimed she was denied a promotion at the German bank’s New York branch in 2001 because of her gender.

A Manhattan jury on Monday awarded Beverly Zakre $2.5 million in punitive damages, $1.3 million in back pay and $100,000 for pain and suffering. Zakre had claimed both discrimination and retaliation.
