Google Says China Is Blocking Gmail Access

Law360, New York (March 21, 2011, 6:06 PM EDT) -- Google Inc. said Sunday that China was hampering its citizens' ability to access Gmail, a move the search engine and technology giant suggested might run afoul of World Trade Organization rules.

“There is no technical issue on our side; we have checked extensively. This is a government blockage carefully designed to look like the problem is with Gmail,” the company said in an email statement.
