Enviros Sue USDA Over Monsanto Alfalfa Approval

Law360, New York (March 21, 2011, 7:46 PM EDT) -- Environmental groups and farmers sued the U.S. Department of Agriculture Friday in California over its plan to allow widespread cultivation of Monsanto Co.'s genetically modified alfalfa crop.

Pesticide-resistant Roundup Ready alfalfa could contaminate conventional and organic crops and make other countries shun U.S. exports, the Center for Food Safety and others said in a suit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
