Texas Says Gas Co. Not To Blame For Well Pollution

Law360, New York (March 22, 2011, 7:04 PM EDT) -- A Texas regulatory agency ruled Tuesday that Range Resource Corp. did not cause methane contamination in homeowners' wells, opposing a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency order that the natural gas company perform remediation work.

The Railroad Commission of Texas — which regulates the state's oil and natural gas industry — voted 3-0 to allow Fort Worth, Texas-based Range to continue natural gas well operations.

The commission found that Range's natural gas drilling in Parker County had not caused contamination in two residential drinking water wells found nearby....
