Insurer For Consultant Fights Chevron Suit Coverage

Law360, New York (March 23, 2011, 6:57 PM EDT) -- Navigators Specialty Insurance Co. asked a Colorado federal court Monday to rule it has no duty to defend or indemnify an environmental consultant for claims that it conspired to extort money from Chevron Corp. in a $27 billion suit over pollution in the Amazon.

In a complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, Navigators Specialty claims Chevron's allegations against Stratus Consulting Inc., a Stratus scientist and an executive vice president fall under exclusions in Stratus' insurance policy.
