4 Charged With Plot To Sell Jet Engines To Iran

Law360, New York (March 23, 2011, 5:29 PM EDT) -- A federal grand jury in Florida indicted four family members Wednesday on charges that they attempted to sell 22 U.S.-built fighter jet engines to Iran.

The indictment, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, said Felipe Echeverry, a resident of Bogota, Colombia, and three accomplices attempted to sell 22 J85-CAN-15 engines that are used in F-5 fighter jets to an undercover agent posing as a representative of the Iranian government for $320,000.
