NY AG Opposes Hevesi's Bid To Recuse Judge

Law360, New York (March 23, 2011, 8:10 PM EDT) -- The New York Attorney General is fighting former New York State Comptroller Alan Hevesi's efforts to remove a judge presiding over his corruption case, arguing the judge can remain impartial despite his ties to the estranged father of Hevesi's lawyer.

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman on Monday asked the Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of New York, to deny Hevesi's motion seeking Judge Lewis B. Stone's recusal, claiming the judge's relationship with Hevesi's lawyer was perfectly allowable under New York law.
