Gender Bias At Finance Cos. Hardly "Settled"

Law360 (April 25, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- While recent settlements have inspired hope that gender discrimination at financial services companies is on the decline, some say that sending employee disputes to arbitration, rather than courts, is helping the financial services sector remain a bastion of workplace sexism.

Others interpret the approximately $100 million Morgan Stanley & Co. Inc. has agreed to pay to settle class action gender bias suits since 2004 as a sign that the financial services industry is on its way to leveling the playing field for female employees.
