MGA Wants Conversion Claims Tossed In Bratz Suit

Law360, New York (March 25, 2011, 7:15 PM EDT) -- MGA Entertainment Inc. on Thursday asked a California federal judge to rule in its favor on Mattel Inc.’s conversion claims in the companies' seven-year dispute over the rights to Bratz dolls, which were designed by an MGA employee allegedly still under contract to Mattel.

In a motion filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, MGA said that "no reasonable jury could have a legally sufficient basis to find for Mattel" on the issue of conversion.
