Timbaland Copyright Claims Falter In 11th Circ.

Law360, New York (March 25, 2011, 5:20 PM EDT) -- The Eleventh Circuit on Friday affirmed that music producer Timbaland and record labels did not infringe a copyright for an Indian song that he sampled in a song for G-Unit Records Inc. artist The Game in 2005.

A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit ruled that plaintiff Saregama India Ltd. only had a copyright on the song at issue, "Baghon Mein Bahar Hai," for two years and thus no infringement had occurred.
