Ex-La. State Representative Can't Nix RICO Charges

Law360, New York (March 30, 2011, 4:20 PM EDT) -- A Louisiana federal judge on Tuesday denied a former Louisiana state representative's motion to be acquitted of federal racketeering charges in connection with political operative Mose Jefferson's alleged misuse of federal and state grant money.

Judge Ivan Lemelle of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana said the government had presented enough evidence to convince a reasonable juror that Renee Gill Pratt was aware of and participated in schemes orchestrated by Jefferson.
