Ex-DC Contract Czar's Termination Suit Kept Alive

Law360, New York (March 30, 2011, 7:34 PM EDT) -- A federal judge on Tuesday refused to dismiss wrongful termination and defamation allegations levied by the District of Columbia's former contract czar against the municipality, but nixed several other claims.

The ruling was issued by Judge Paul L. Friedman of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, where Eric W. Payne, the former contract director for the D.C. Office of the Chief Financial Director, sued the municipality and Natwar Gandhi, D.C.'s chief financial officer, after he was fired.
