Empire Wants Off Hook For Share Of $20M Verdict

Law360, New York (April 1, 2011, 4:16 PM EDT) -- Empire Indemnity Insurance Co. asked a Texas federal court Friday to absolve it from covering any part of a $20 million jury verdict in a suit accusing a policyholder of breaching a car wash equipment contract.

Oklahoma City-based Empire launched the suit against its insured, N/S Corp., along with Jalin Ltd. d/b/a My Car Wash and Liberty Surplus Insurance Corp., in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, just weeks after a jury sided against N/S on March 11.
